How To Get To The Black Garden Destiny 2
WHen the game tells you to do something in the black garden it wants you to do either the raid or vex offensive. You're talking about weapon bounties you got from Ikora right? Then if you completed the kills parts you have to defeat the final boss in vex offensive and that's it.

The black garden is "adrift" in time and space. It was anchored to Mars last time, now it has reappeared and anchored to the Moon. Those quests require you to get vex kills with a weapon and then kill the Vex Offensive boss to claim them.

Where exactly is the black garden in the moon? Do you have to do something before it shows? I even own Shadowkeep (barely played it as I wanted to do the other things first) and I am not seeing it.

The physical location is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49s6QVIi9IM
The location for the actual activity and raid are on the moon's map screen. You have to get the quest from either Eris or Ikora, you might have to finish the campaign first.
thats something else, this is the start for the divinity questline (you need to do the raid for that).

I know that's something else, but people keep asking about where the black garden actually is so I posted it. But you still need a quest to do Vex Offensive which involves the Vex invasions on the lunar surface.
I am following the guide posted by Misfit, and I can see why people (including me) are having so much trouble. The design is atrocious. After some questing (which might require owning the Shadowkeep DLC and if so it locks most players out of it). Then you have to kill the right stuff during one of those dumb random storms before unlocking.
And of course, because nobody understands it... when you finally manage to get a storm, you are solo and will most likely not be able to kill the boss unless you have very high level weaponry. And when you are finally about to kill the thing... it disappears out of your screen. Stupid stupid stupid.
It might have been fine if they didn't start locking key stuff behind it, or if these things weren't tied to the season that is about to end.

Anyone can explore the moon, but the problem is that the vex invasion is so delayed that people just move onto to the next thing to do and don't even know there is a vex invasion with powerful gear drops coming. Try the lfg discord for people.

Indeed. It is very poorly designed. Especially when they make so many things dependent on it.
Even daily bounties that you have no idea when you get them that are undoable. I mean seriously... the whole point of daily bounties is that they are supposed to be quick and easy to do even by solo players. But when you can't even unlock access to do them... it is beyond irritating. I wildly regret buying the Shadowkeep DLC now.

at least you only need to do it one time to unlock it.
its worth it, you get a huge amount of good gear in every run. its very easy to farm good rolls of the weapons.

When you aren't trying, it gets done. I somehow already had 2 gate lords killed from my first visit to the Moon and just stumbling upon a battle in progress. But getting that 3rd gate lord has been a nightmare. I've been at it for hours, fought him multiple times and every time solo. I am caving in and going to look for a fireteam to do it.
Wow, so much information I did not expect, thanks all. So let me get this straight. I have already done the vex invasion twice but had not completed the seed quests. Now I have to do it again to turn in the quests for the weapons?

Kill vex (anywhere) with the weapon you're trying to get and kill the boss to claim the weapons, you don't just get the quest and then get the weapon.
