AMD launches FidelityFX Super Resolution, its answer to NVIDIA DLSS

AMD launched FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) today. It's AMD's respond to NVIDIA's DLSS and promises better frame rates and resolution for gaming. AMD teased and previewed FSR for months, and at present it's finally bachelor to boost the functioning of the best graphics cards.

AMD promises that FSR will deliver upwards to two.four times college performance at 4K for supported titles. In that location are four different quality settings in FSR, which focus on either frame charge per unit or resolution.

While FSR is AMD's response to DLSS, the two technologies piece of work differently. A major do good of FSR is that information technology works with a large library of GPUs. Dissimilar NVIDIA's DLSS, which is restricted to a small subset of hardware, FSR works with over 100 AMD GPUs, including its Radeon RX 6000, RX 5000, RX 500, RX Vega, and even some RX 400 GPUs. It even works with Pascal-based GTX ten-series hardware from NVIDIA.

At launch, FSR is merely bachelor on the following titles; Anno 1800, Evil Genius 2, Godfall, Kingshunt, 22 Racing Serial, Terminator: Resistance and The Riftbreaker. That list should grow throughout the year. AMD highlights that more than than 40 developers plan to support and integrate FSR into titles.

Since FSR is so new, it will have to get through intensive testing to come across how it stacks upward to DLSS. We'll have to get our hands on a rig running FSR to see which method works better. If it delivers on its hope, FSR will be a major boost to PC gaming.
